- Mulching flower and garden beds
- Decorative landscape beds
Cedar chips can serve various purposes in the garden by suppressing weeds, neatening the appearance of landscape beds, conserving water and diminishing soil erosion.
Can or should I mix cedar chips into my soil?
Fresh cedar chips & mulch can use up your soil’s nitrogen when it decomposes, making that nitrogen unavailable for the plants it is surrounding. This issue affects only the soil in contact with the chips or mulch directly and will not affect your plants as long as the material is not mixed into the soil.
